Mini-stern launch event

In 2006 Sir Nicolas Stern in a report to government, warned that the world had to - act now on climate change or face devastating economic consequences. The government response has been to set targets to cut carbon emissions; create new legislation to target carbon emitters; develop a global market for carbon pricing and trading and they are also acting to prevent deforestation across the world.

This event presents the findings of the "Mini Stern" report for Liverpool and the Liverpool City Region. Come along and discover Liverpool 's carbon footprint and the new policies and legislation that will affect your business.

Speakers will also include representatives from the Carbon Trust and the Environment Agency who will talk about how businesses can reduce their carbon footprint. You will also hear from two local businesses on how they have adapted and benefited from the climate change agenda.

Who should attend?

The event is aimed at businesses particularly in the construction, food and drink, transport & logistics, chemicals, and environmental technologies sectors. It will also benefit those new to the climate change agenda.

This event has been sponsored by Liverpool City Council in association with Year of the Environment 2009.  It has been supported by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Liverpool Vision and Groundwork Merseyside.
