Lord Mayor's Pageant

Liverpool's all new Lord Mayor’s Pageant will be a riot of colour and creativity when it starts from Pall Mall at 12noon this Saturday (June 6th).

For the first time ever the event will include a performance area at Church Street / Liverpool One allowing for non-stop entertainment for the afternoon following the end of the parading aspect of the day.

A number of separate events across the city centre will also be taking place including; a recycled art initiative at the Met Quarter, Jurassic fun at the 08 Place, Gorillas going Ape at St John’s Shopping Centre, Superlambananas at Queen’s Square, Exploration at the Bluecoat and Lewis’s going green for the day.

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor Councillor Mike Storey said: “This year’s event will be truly spectacular.

“The new Lord Mayor’s pageant is a great way for people to give to charity, have a great deal of fun and show off Liverpool’s uniquely diverse communities at the same time.

“We are trying to give this year’s event a much greener emphasis and all the themes will fully reflect this. I hope people will come along, give their support and be wonderfully entertained with a tremendous display of costumes, music, dancing and entertainment with such a positive message.”

Pageant themes include a:

Solar section representing the awesome power of the sun

Rainforest section focusing on endangered species and deforestation,

Ocean section representing the crucial part oceans play in maintaining balance on planet earth

Antarctic section highlighting the effects of global warming

Cosmic section representing the forces and particles that balance our world.
