Green goody bag giveaway

Residents of Liverpool will have the chance to win  VIP  ‘Eco Friendly’ Shopping bags in a Green Goody bag Giveaway launched by the FREE 08 Card.

08 Cardholders are being urged to pledge to do a ‘green’ activity for the chance to win goody bags stuffed with VIP prizes from top Liverpool brands.

Top Liverpool brands including Malmaison, The Olive Press, Baby Blue, HA! HA! Bar and ‘What’s Cooking’ have supported the giveaway by contributing VIP goodies such as hotel rooms and meal vouchers to ten of the fifty goody bags available.

The Chocolate Cellar, based in hanover Galleries have donated a “year’s supply of Chocolate” and other sweet toothed prizes include a tempting ‘5 course Dessert experience’ at Leaf.

The limited edition Eco shopping bags, bearing this years “Our City Our Planet” logo will be given out to fifty  entrants of an online competition  to raise awareness Liverpool’s ‘Year of the Environment’ and to remind to residents reuse their shopping bags to reduce the shocking impact plastic bags have on our planet. Lighting Retailer Lite Craft, have filled all the bags with energy saving light bulbs.

Carl Speight, Chief Executive of Livesmart who deliver the FREE 08 Card Said “ We are delighted to be encouraging  over 90,000 08 Cardholders to take part in Year of the Environment through this Green Goody-bag Giveaway and deliver the reusable carrier bags message in a fun and accessible way. We have some really exciting 2010 plans for the 08 Card which will make it even more valuable to people.”

Liverpool City Council’s executive member for the environment, Councillor Berni Turner, said:  “I’m delighted the 08 Card is supporting Liverpool’s Year of the Environment.

“Throughout the year we’ve had a fantastic response from schools, community groups and residents who are going that extra green mile and as a result we’re making great strides towards Liverpool becoming a more sustainable city.

“The amazing prizes are a great incentive for 08 Cardholders to get involved and pledge to do something positive for the environment - whether it be arranging a community litter pick, donating some old clothes to charity or promising to recycle as much of your household waste as possible. 

“Whatever the pledge, large or small, it will make a real difference so I hope as many people as possible enter the competition and be inspired to think about what they can do to protect our environment.”

Since its launch in 2007, the 08 Card has already given away tens of thousands of pounds worth of prizes to local people and urges cardholders not to miss out on this exciting giveaway.
