Cycling Sunday in Speke

The first Sunday of every month is a Cycling Sunday in Speke.

Those taking part will have some fun, meet other people who enjoy cycling, get some exercise and could see parts of Speke and Liverpool they haven’t seen before. The rides leave Lifestyles Austin Rawlinson at Parklands, Speke at 2pm, and will last 2-4 hours.

The second Cycling Sunday takes place on 6 December for a ride to the Speke Garston Coastal Reserve with a break for tea and mince pies at the Liverpool Sailing Club.

After setting off from Lifestyles Austin Rawlinson the ride heads at a leisurely pace to the Speke Garston Coastal Reserve, stopping at the Sailing Club. It’s then back to Austin Rawlinson Lifestyles where the ride finishes.

The rides usually return before dusk on the winter rides, but this cannot always be guaranteed so those who intend to take part should make sure they check the lights on their bike. All abilities are welcome and the ride is led by qualified cycle instructors. There is no need to book.

Upcoming Cycling Sundays are on 3 January, 7 February and 7 March.

These bike rides are part of a series of bike rides planned in an around Speke and build on the success of the previous Cycle Speke rides to the Speke Garston Coastal Reserve, Pickerings Pasture and Otterspool Promenade Further information on rides and the Cycle Speke project can be found at www.liverpool.gov.uk/cyclespeke or by contacting Claudia Stuerck, Cycle Speke Officer, on 0151 233 8303.  The Cycle Speke project is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
